Gli acidi grassi di tipo Omega 3 fanno parte dei cosiddetti ‘grassi essenziali’, ovvero che il corpo non può produrre da solo, e devono essere introdotti da fonti esterne con l’alimentazione.

La fonte primaria è rappresentata da vari tipi di pesci di mare (merluzzo, tonno, salmone, sgombro, aringa, etc.); comunque anche alcuni alimenti di origine vegetale tra cui l’olio di semi di lino e l’olio di colza ne sono ricchi.

Nonostante il fatto che gli effetti fisiologici positivi degli alimenti contenenti acidi grassi polinsaturi siano ben conosciuti, spesso non ne vengono assunti a sufficienza.

MEGA OMEGA 3  contiene gli acidi grassi EPA (acido eicosapentaenoico) e DHA (acido docosaesaenoico) e anche  vitamina E.

EPA e il DHA contribuiscono alla normale funzione cardiaca. (L’effetto benefico si ottiene con l’assunzione giornaliera di 250 mg di EPA e DHA).
Il DHA contribuisce al mantenimento della normale funzione cerebrale e al mantenimento della capacità visiva normale.
